Or team car. This is where the teams’ sport directors sit and give their riders via radio and earphones tactical instructions and information about the specifics of the route ahead of the riders. The materials car can also be contacted by the athletes via radio, if, for instance, they find themselves in a leading group and need drinks, food or clothing or want to hand these in to the car. On the rear seat is a mechanic with tools and wheels, who is able to jump out of the car in a flash in case of a defect and fit a spare wheel or replace the cycle in full. The position, in which the team car is located in the queue of such vehicles behind the peloton , depends on the given riders’ position in the overall rankings.
