The Giro di Lombardia, the season’s last race, is carried out annually at the middle of October. The race, also called the race of the falling leaves, took place for the first time in 1905. The course leads the riders from Mendrisio through Lombardy, around lake Como, to Como. The finish used to be Bergamo in the past. A characteristic of the Giro di Lombardia is its hilly terrain.
