Is the term used to describe the ratio selected via the sprocket (two chain cogs) and pinion unit (ten pinions on the rear wheel) from 20 theoretical options and determined via the chain transmission between pedal revolutions and the distance covered. The two chain cogs generally have 39/53 or 42/52 teeth and the pinion units 11-23 or 12-25 teeth.
