Helmet, mandatory usage
Hunger knock
 Following the fatal fall suffered by the professional Kasach cyclist Andrej Kivilev at the Paris-Nice road race in 2003, the debate on mandatory helmet usage for professionals broke out again. This mandatory requirement has been in force since 2004, and since 2005 riders are no longer allowed to remove their helmets for the final ascent on a mountain stage.
