Arne Wellna from Burg asks: During hard climbs one always sees fans pushing the riders. This is actually forbidden by the race direction. How do the riders see that? Is it disturbing or relieving?
The riders know that the fans' intention by pushing them during a hard climb is only nice and motivating. During the race, most riders find it rather desturbing if fans interfere with their ride. The few meters they are pushed do not really help the riders. It disturbs their pedalling rather than supporting them. Furthermore, the danger of crashes increases. Not every fan knows how to push correctly. Mostly, the fans are euphoric and hectical. In this state they might easily make the rider fall. And surely no fan wants to risk this for his idol.
