Stefan Schreckenbach asks Team MILRAM: Why does Alessandro Petacchi ride a blue and white bike this season while his team-mates all have a blue and black bike?
The varnisihing of Alessandro Petacchi's bike is different on the one hand because he is one the captains of Team MILRAM, on the other hand because he likes the colour white very much. He has been riding a bike with another colour since he is a member of Team MILRAM. The varnishing didn't change in comarison to last year's. Furthermore, Alessandro Petacchi's bike differs from the other bikes by a jet painted on the top tube. Erik Zabel's bike has an eagle's head painted there. Both signs stand for the velocity that features the sprinters.

Arne Wellna from Burg asks: During hard climbs one always sees fans pushing the riders. This is actually forbidden by the race direction. How do the riders see that? Is it disturbing or relieving?
The riders know that the fans' intention by pushing them during a hard climb is only nice and motivating. During the race, most riders find it rather desturbing if fans interfere with their ride. The few meters they are pushed do not really help the riders. It disturbs their pedalling rather than supporting them. Furthermore, the danger of crashes increases. Not every fan knows how to push correctly. Mostly, the fans are euphoric and hectical. In this state they might easily make the rider fall. And surely no fan wants to risk this for his idol.

Daniel Ostendorf asks: How should I exercise in order to achieve good results in the U12 category and to be caught sight of in the best case? I already won at the Hobby Kids, yet I have no idea about licence races.
In order to achieve the preconditions for a successful entry into cycling it is best to enrol in a club. There, a trainer is available, helping the young riders to arrange a training programme which is adjusted to them exactly. This is especially important, because every rider's body is different, and in order to achieve the best possible performance, the training has to be adapted to the particular ability. In cycling there are many different methods of training, and with a trainer you can find out which is the right one for each rider. Furthermore, it is always important in cycling to set goals. Only if you know what you want to achieve you can adapt the exercise to this goal.
It is best to get a trainer at a club close by. Here is a link to the youth department of the BDR where you can get further information about the particular clubs. => BDR youth department

Christian Bund from Wiesbach asks: I somehow came into possession of special lightweight wheels, 12 spokes at the front, 16 at the back. They are supposed to exist only five times. Is it right that Erik Zabel owns some?
The 16 spokes back wheels really don't exist very often. Surely less than ten of them were produced. So they are really "something special". In contrast, there are plenty of the 12 spokes front wheels. In 2003, Erik Zabel rode a borrowed 16 spokes back wheel. However, he doesn't own one.

Jake Byrd from Kernersville, USA, asks the Team MILRAM sprinters: what sort of training would you reccomend for a junior racer who may want to sort of specialize in sprinting? Are there any specific workouts that I may want to try?
In order to improve your sprinting capacities, interval-training is very good. With this mode of exercise you can do a lot for your quickness and liveliness. Interval-training means that during a training ride some parts of the course are done in sprint. For example there is the so-called „signpost-training“. Here, you orientate yourself by means of signs along the street. These are used as boundaries for the distance to sprint. Signposts are always good finish lines, therefore the name.
