Dear Team MILRAM fans,

today is the second rest day of the Vuelta. I just took a little nap, now we’re waiting for the massage. Then there’s dinner, I’ll watch some TV, and then I’ll go to bed. Today, there wasn’t a transfer fortunately. The last rest day, we drove from Andorra to the Mediterranean sea, that wasn’t really a day off. Today, in contrast, we just had an hour of training, and spent the rest of the day in the hotel. That’s relaxing.

So far, the Vuelta was really good for me. I got along well, could do my work, we were successful – that's fine. The atmosphere within the team is very good as well after the three wins. At the beginning, Alessandro was a little strained, but since his first win he’s more relaxed again. It’s always like that, those who are expected to win are always a bit under pressure. But after the first win they’re calmer again. Before Alessandro’s first win, for example, MILRAM worked hard during the whole stage. At that moment it would have been quite disappointing not to win. But it was our stage from the beginning to the end. We also resolved to win the next stage, but then it didn’t work out due to the weather. The good thing about that is that you’re calmer after three wins.

Now it’s still six days and 750 kilometers to go until we reach Madrid. We don’t have ambitions for the second to last stage, the time trial over 20 kilometers. The final stage to Madrid will start quite slowly, only the finale will be really fast. I think we can achieve something there as well. Until then we just have to get through and save power, so that we can work for our sprinters in the decisive phases.

After the Vuelta, I’ll do the Münsterland-Giro, and then I’ll go on holiday. I’m not sure where, at the moment, but somewhere anyway. Relaxing, getting the mind free. It was a long year, and in the holidays I want to regain my powers so that I can go on like that next year. The bike I’ll leave at home then. I’ll do some jogging and fitness, but the first two weeks I won’t really get on the bike.

Altogether I can say that the season was very good for me so far. I did the Giro, where I convinced, and this is why I’m at the Vuelta now. I’m really satisfied, it was a good year for me.

See you soon,
Martin
