Robert Förster sprints to fourth place in Trofeo Cala Millor

Cala Millor: 08/02/2010

Team MILRAM can rejoice in a Top Ten placing again on the second day of the Mallorca Challenge (February 7-11 / UCI 1.1). MILRAM sprinter Robert Förster sprinted to fourth place in the mass sprint after 172 kilometers from Son Servera to Cala Millor. The stage win went to Oscar Freire of Rabobank, ahead of Andre Greipel (HTC-Columbia) and Manuel Cardoso (Footon-Servetto).

„We started riding for Robert five kilometers before the finish line,“ is how Christian Henn, MILRAM's Directeur Sportif, described the finale. “The team formed well and continued to work well. We can surely improve our sprint preparations but we are on the right way. Robert was finally brought into the right position and brought in a top placing. Tomorrow it goes up in the mountains, a very challenging race which will serve as the season opener for our climbers, who have big plans.“

The Mallorca Challenge consists of five one-day races carried on consecutive days. „Every rider who is registered for the Challenge can take part in as many races as he wants. Riders who participate in all five races are listed in an unofficial overall ranking,“ explained Christian Henn. Team MILRAM has previously ridden the race series on the vacation island in 2007 and 2009. Last year captain Gerald Ciolek brought in the first MILRAM win in 2009 in the fifth race of the Challenge. Markus Fothen was fifth in the unofficial overall ranking.
